I know it’s completely unrelated and I’m sure this is not the first time that multiple apps in the app store have the same name.
Just find it interesting that MKBHD’s new app is also called Panels.
I like my comics app better than a 50$ a year wallpaper app

It’s a bit annoying that they decided to use the name Panels. But it’s a word in the English dictionary, so I guess it’s fair game 
But we don’t think it will affect us much. Different categories and different targets. Regarding SEO/ASO, it doesn’t make sense for us to compete for the word “Panels”. We would rather compete for “comic reader”, “comics”, etc…
It’s only annoying when someone searches for “Panels” looking for one app but finds the other first. But those people already know what they are looking for. I don’t think anyone will get confused and accidentally download the wrong app. If anything, it will bring some users who are also interested in comics to our app.
That’s a good optimistic way to look at it. I’m sure that the intersection of the Venn diagram of people watching MKBHD videos and who like to read comics would contain a lot of people. Thanks for the answer
