The new text recognition seems great.
However, as I’m reading foreign language comics to improve my language (in my case, Italian), text recognition would be great if I could select a word and look it up in a dictionary (as is possible in ‘books’).
Would this be hard to implement?

This is a very nice example of what could be possible… The problem is that right now we are scanning the whole page for text but we do not actually know where the text is located in the screen.
That will require much more work.
Panels Labs are features that we develop to try new things and have fun with Panels. If enough people find them useful we will dedicate some of our time. Right now, text recognition is not widely used and we may not dedicate more time to it.
If we ever decide to spend more time on this, your suggestion will be the direction we will follow.
