Now that the early access period for Panels 4 has gone live (exclusive to premium users), would I get a license for the full version of Panels 4 if I were to purchase the current Panels plan in the iOS app? When I choose the option to upgrade my plan in the app, it specifies Panels 3, so it sounds like I’ll have to wait some more.
Panels 3.8.0 introduces the first Panels 4.0 feature as early access. As you mention, early access is only available for premium users (both Panels+ subscribers and Panels 3 owners), so if you want to try them you need to become premium.
This is an answer I gave to a Discord user yesterday that may help:
We will be gradually releasing Panels 4 early access features (not all of them, though), but we are still quite far from releasing it. Regardless, Panels 3 gives you all current features forever, the fact that Panels 4 will be coming at some point should not affect the decision of subscribing vs. owning the features. If it helps, we plan to offer an upgrade option when moving from Panels 3 to 4, so panels 3 owners will not have to pay full price. Also, you may not be interested on panels 4 features and decide to stay panels 3 forever. On the subscription side, as long as you keep the subscription active, you will always have access to everything. Long term you end up paying more or less the same if you keep upgrading, so it is fair/equivalent for everyone. Some people value ownership and 1time payment more than anything that’s why we created this approach. I hope this helps inform your decision.
