Panels not starting on iPad

I’m running Panels 3.6.3 on my iPad Air (3rd generation) running IOS 18.2.1. It was working fine this morning, but when I try to start it now. the Panels start screen appears but then just disappears. The Panels app show up in my list of running apps, but selecting it just results in the start screen again just disappearing. I’ve tried a hard reboot (home+power buttons) with the same results. So first, any help figuring out what I did to piss my iPad off? I could try to reinstall the app but I don’t want to lose my existing comic files. Where on my iPad are they stored so I can offload them? Long time user.

If you open up the Files app, you should be able to get to the Panels folder and move out all your comics to a different folder. You should then be able to reinstall the app and then move your comics back to the Panels folder.

In the first instance, trying reinstalling the Panels app and just open it as is to see if the app will open in a default clean state.

If that works, slowly move your comics to the Panels folder, all the while checking that the Panels app is still opening properly.

Hope that works.

Found the Panels folder and backed the files back up to my iCloud (which is what I use to import files into Panels). Reinstalled Panels which is now working (tx). Was able to import backed up files along with some new ones I had. So I’m happy. I’m also glad the reinstall was able to reestablish my Panels+ account.

Thanks for the guidance.

Sorry I missed this message. Thank you @Peter_Chau for providing a way out.

In the future @kenakahn , we also have a “factory reset”. If you go to system settings, Apps, Panels, Maintenance, and turn on factory reset, next time you open Panels it will ask you to wipe your database. Your comic folder will still exist and you won’t loose any content, but the internal database that panels uses to index comics as well as some cache and other internal files will be deleted. Most of the time, that fixes any issues.

Usually reinstalling the app is our last option (since we don’t want users to go through the painful process of backing things up).

Last thing, it will be great if you could send us via email ( support@panels.app ) your app diagnostics: Sending App Diagnostics | Panels Guides
That will allow us to check what was going on and prevent it to happen again in the future.

Thank you!
