Panels freezing

new guy here! ive been using panels for about 3 years now after the crash and burn of comics zeal. i just got a massive influx of cbz ( almost the entire uncanny x-men catalog) and for some reason the app keeps freezing and slowing down. ive checked to see if im missing any updates on my ipad or on the itself and i appear to be not. when i go to my menu, it freezes for a while, but then i cannot advance to “on my ipad” wondering is theres a fix for this? or if i uninstall nad reinstall if it will fix this? also if i do this… will i lose my entire library?

Sorry you’re having trouble with the app. We will look into it. How many comics do you have in total?

If you added your comics to the main library “On my iPad”, they are stored in the app container. So yes, deleting the app deletes the app container and all its content.
If you are about to delete it, make sure to move your files out of the app container. You can move them from Files.app , and you will find them at “On my iPad/ Panels”.

I recommend you create a new folder in “On my iPad” (Files.app) called “Comics” (or whatever you want), and move everything from “On my iPad/Panels” into “On my iPad/Comics”. That process should be fast.
Then, you’re safe to delete the app.

Based on what you’ve shared, my guess is the app is choking when trying to build a library with so many files. We will look into.

In the meantime, try creating different libraries for different folders with fewer comics.

Thank you for your quick response. I did attempt to do what you mentioned on a secondary iPad as a test subject moving them to the iPad itself. It actually did not work so when I deleted the app it deleted all the info including the cbz, that I saved to the iPad.i reinstalled and all of that information moved over was deleted .so what I’m currently experiencing on the iPad with the large collection on it is I have to physically type in what the name of the title is that I want to read if I attempt to scroll through the library the whole thing freezes up in the entire app is just very, very slow However, on a positive note all of the CBZ that I have are downloaded onto an external hard drive I’m just not sure if I delete the app and reload them using iTunes if it’s gonna create the same issue or if the issue itself is based upon the volume of 550 gigs of CBZ
