After ‘Analyzing page’ appears, the panel detection is incorrect and it zooms in on the text bubbles (which are also incorrectly displayed) and irrelevant things such as margins and gaps. I have tested several comics. This used to work a few months ago. I don’t have a subscription to Panels 3, so maybe that’s the reason.
Just to let you know, the guided view in the YAC reader for iPad app is working correctly with the same comics.
Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, we are aware that is not working as it should. PanelsView is an experimental feature that we haven’t been able to develop as much as we wanted. We are focused on other things right now.
We want to get back to it when we have time and improve it. That’s one of the reasons it’s disabled by default in Labs.
Hi! Has there been any updates on this? Just noticed that there’s a Mac app now (it’s awesome btw), so if the Panel View gets fixed on iPad, I’ll ditch YAC for this.
Yeah, I know this feature’s not very popular among other comic readers but I however like to have it. Maybe because I also use Kindle’s guided view for my comixology comics, so maybe I’m looking for a similar experience but with my own comics

What is the status with the panel-view feature? This was the reason that I even bought version 3 again, because I thought it was behind the subscription. And to be honest, this feature is (or was) Panels unique selling point, even if it was very experimental.
I don’t find it on the macOS version (no Panel Lab under settings).
Is it only available on the iPhone? Or still removed entirely from the app?
Labs is in the General section in settings on the Mac app.
The feature is still in Labs because we haven’t reached the panel detection level of quality that we want to feel comfortable with promoting it. But we recently updated it with improvements in panel sorting after detection, and we plan to update the detection model in the next couple of months, with improved detection.
Since this is something that takes quite a lot of investigation and iteration, we’ve kept this feature as a side project.
