Hi there,
I purchased the Panels app for my iPhone XS Max running iOS 18.7.9. However, I am unable to connect from outside my local network; I keep getting “secure connection” or “connection timeout” errors. I also tried setting up a reverse proxy, but that didn’t work either. The Kavita server is installed via Docker on a Synology NAS. I can connect using OPDS on the local network, but—as I mentioned—I cannot connect to the NAS server via OPDS on Panels from external networks. Is there anyone who can help? I’m not an expert on these matters, but I might be able to get it working with some guidance. Thanks.
Since iOS 9, it is required that apps connect to servers using secure connections. We added an exception so users can access their servers without setting up HTTPS. But connecting over the internet requires a secure connection.
Here you have a guide to expose your server publicly using a secure connection.
Many Panels users that have an OPDS server running on Docker use Tailscale, so probably you might want to looks into it first. Apparently, it’s the easiest option.
We can’t provide much support on this matter, since it’s more related to the server than to Panels.
If those links don’t help, I’d also recommend asking for help in the Kavita’s Discrod server. They can probably guide you on how to set up Kavita to be publicly accessible.
