Hi, I’ve been using Panels happily for the past few weeks, and it works great with my Komga OPDS server. It’s been very fast and reliable so far.
I was curious whether metadata display in Panels is planned for the future. OPDS already returns fields like and , so it would be amazing if each series page could display metadata such as author info, summaries, or descriptions.
A dedicated series/book info page similar to Jellyfin would also be really nice to have. I think it would make browsing large libraries much more immersive and polished.
If you long-press on a comic, you should be able to tap con Show info and see all the metadata returned in the OPDS feed.
We do have plans for adding support for metadata in Panels 4. But just to manage expectations, OPDS integration determines how the OPDS library is browsable. Even after we add support for metadata, the OPDS libraries can’t change much because we are tied to how the OPDS protocol works.
Local libraries (and cloud ones if possible) will be browsable by metadata fields.
Thanks, it indeed displays the summary, current page, and last read date. I was curious if it’s possible to have a series page similar to Komga within the Panels UI, but limitations of OPDS v1.2 seems to be the bottleneck here. I genuinely hope for the implementation of OPDS V2.0 in Panels in the future.
