Enhancing Panel Navigation for Large Projects

Hello

When working on large-scale projects in Panels; navigating between different layouts and sections can become cumbersome. Users often find themselves scrolling through numerous panels to locate a specific one; which can slow down workflow efficiency. While Panels provides a flexible layout system, a more structured navigation method could significantly improve usability. :upside_down_face:

One possible improvement is the implementation of a “Quick Access” feature; allowing users to pin frequently used panels or create a collapsible directory-style overview of all open panels. This would provide a faster way to switch between key sections, reducing unnecessary scrolling & time spent searching for specific content. Additionally, introducing custom keyboard shortcuts for panel switching could further streamline navigation. :innocent: I checked Panels - Panels Community Splunk training related to this and found it quite informative.

Has anyone else faced similar issues when managing large projects? What are some workarounds you currently use to navigate more efficiently? It would be great to hear different perspectives on improving workflow organization. Also, does Panels have any existing features or third-party integrations that could help with this?

Thank you !! :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi @forep

What do you mean when you say “Panel” (“allowing users to pin frequently used panels”)? Does it refer to a folder? If so, you can pin folders to the root of the Libraries by marking them as Favorite.

Give it a try and let us know if that works.

We plan to create Smart Folders where users can define their own queries to access content. Hopefully, that will also help organize and access content quickly.
