I use komga for my server and I love using panels to access it. I find the series I want to read then favorit them in Panels so they are easy to find and then i download them (not saving in library so I can still sync with komga)
Now here is my issue. I have quite large and powehungry servers so they a re not on 24/7. And I would had thought That the downloads would show up in the favorits folder even though it can not connect. But that does not work. I can ONLY read the downloads if i am already reading it from the reading now screen.
How can i find the downloads i have from komga when the server is off? are there anyway to make them show in favorits when server is off?
Today it acts a bit differently.
Before I got a red warning.
Today it loads and loads and loads and after a very long time the comics shows up. When trying to open the comics it just loads and loads and loads again before finally opening the comic.
Is it possible to have an option on how long to try and connect to server? or maybe even a button saying “offline mode” so panels does not try and connect to server?
It sounds like you have connectivity problems with your server, and it might not have a stable connection. The server responds but too slowly, keeping the app waiting for the response.
If the server is down, the app should receive an immediate error and show the cached content.
I don’t think we want to add such low-level configurations, like time-to-live connection.
Offline mode also adds so much complexity that not every user will understand what it’s there for. But you can momentarily put your device in airplane mode, which should do the trick.
Unfortunately, those measures try to solve a problem on the server side, and the client shouldn’t try to patch the server behavior.
I still need to double-check that the app shows the cached content when opening from the Favorites. I’ll look into it shortly to confirm that it works as expected or fix it if needed.
also, about this

We have yet to implement a better solution to see all your downloads. We have designs, but we haven’t found the time to implement them yet. We will do so as soon as we can.
umm yes connectivity problems… the servers was off
My point is that if your server is off and the app keeps waiting, it means something is keeping the connection open until the app times out. DNS resolution maybe? Do you use something like DynDNS?
It’s hard to know anything in the pipeline could keep the connection open.
But the thing is that servers should be up most of the time and off on rare occasions when there is a problem. If you need to keep your server down frequently, maybe an OPDS server is not the right solution in your case. Maybe you could benefit from other solutions like an iCloud Library. Dropbox recently added support for File Provider on iOS, and you can also create a Panels cloud library using Dropbox.
Also, you can import your comics into the local library from your Komga server, instead of using the Download function.
My servers are up doing the day and off doing the night all in all the use around 200 watts (Lots of drives) and do not need to use that power when no one uses them
Anyway the airplane mode seems to work on the rare occasions I need it when they are off
No metadata or sync with komga when I download (how I used it to start with)
