Hi everyone! I have been using Panels since a lot of time ago, the best software for reading comics on iOS without doubts! I have been using it on small storage iPads, 256GB normally, so I used normally the streaming function from Komga directly. In this case, the reading progress sync worked flawlessly.
Recently, I migrated to a brand new iPad with 2TB storage, as I started reading a lot on the go. Imported from Komga to Panels a lot of comics, and started reading them. In this case, the reading sync progress isn’t happening, each time I finish a comic, I need to mark it as read manually in Komga WebUI. Am I doing something wrong? If not, is there any possibility that Komga will get this feature in the future?
If you import your comics into your local library, there is no way for us (at the moment) to know that file is also on your Komga server. There is no connection between the comic and your server. That’s why reading progress sync doesn’t work.
If, instead of importing the comic into your library, you simply Download the file (so it stays in the context of the server), reading progress sync with Komga should work work just fine.
Oh, I didn’t saw this option! Tried and it is working, thank you very much!
Regarding the Downloads section, would it be possible to group multiple comics by series? Right now, they appear independently. For huge libraries, it should help a lot. If it isn’t possible, at least the order parameters can be made persistent? If I try to order alphabetically, it works until I take out from the Downloads section. Every time I enter Downloads section, the filter is reset to default.
Hi there,
I have the same issue and the solution doesn’t satisfy me as one have to download file by file.
could panels add a way to download entire libraries, and even better, keep track of changes to update the local files ?
And better again, why not add a sync feature with opds services ?
one could choose libraries / Folders to sync (with deletion too) and get the best of both world, speed and off grid use of local files and still keeping track with komga/kavita.
thanks
OPDS is a one-way-read-only protocol, and “sync” can’t simply be implemented over that protocol. The server can’t send messages to the clients, so there is no way for the app to sync content.
We could implement a “Download” function at feed level, though.
Hi Dany,
Thanks for the explainations !
A batch download function would be awsome !
For me it is the only big thing I miss compared to others apps.
Just to be sure, if I download my komga libraries, file by file or with a future batch download fonction, will konga keep track of what I will read locally ?
I understood that opds is read only and no real sync is possible, but could panels compare what it has already downloaded and komga libraries to eventually download what’s new on libraries ?
Thanks again !
