Hi! I’m reading a 9000 page comic, but every now and then it resets to page 1 and I have to make a guesstimate as to where I was. On most recent version of the iPad app. What options do I have to double check?
And are they saved system wide or epub specific?

Can you post a screenshot of the reader configuration you’re using?
Does this happen with every comic or with one in particular? Does it happen with every reading configuration/preset? What format is the comic? you mention epub but I’m unclear if that’s the format of the file.
What iOS version are you using?

This is my setting:
For me, it’s happening on everything whenever I exit the comic or the app, it reverts back to page 1. The format are .cbr and .cbz. I also have ‘Reset to first page’ greyed out.
I tried to do some amateur troubleshooting and it worked when I did a factory reset but only to find out that the problem only occurs when my ‘Reading mode’ is ‘Vertical scroll’ and has no problem when in modes like ‘Standard’.
My iOS is 16.7.10 and I’m on the current Panel version 3.5.5.

I’m actively investigating this issue because there are other users with the same problem but, unfortunately, we haven’t been able to reproduce it on our end.

Same here. Latest iPad os. Maybe it helps to note that my panels app also often seems to think I don’t have the premium version and I have to retrieve my purchases.
It’s happening mostly on my giant berserk Manga pdf. It’s a 5 gb mega file and constantly having to go back to the page I left off is starting to get really annoying
The weird part is that it does show my reading time so it does seem to memorize that I read it. Just seems to reset the page after I haven’t used the app for a while

About the purchase validation, currently, we rely on iOS keeping the purchases up to date. The latest versions of Panels don’t keep track of the purchases. We just ask iOS.
But some users have reported this issue, I think asking iOS is not as reliable as we thought. We will make it more robust in the next release.
Has there been any updates or workarounds to this? I’m finding the app to be borderline unusable because of this. As others have stated this seems to occur only on really large file / high page count titles. Smaller file sizes / page counts don’t seem to exhibit this issue or at least not on a frequent basis.
Not only does it take multiple minutes on the first open of a very large file, every 30 seconds or so it the app forces another “opening” call and goes back to page one.

What version of Panels are you using? Also, could you contact us at support@panels.app and share that large file with us so we can use it to reproduce the issue?

I recently noticed that using the “standard” preset retains read progress but the vertical scroll which I used before and greatly prefer, does not.
